Supporting Help for Heroes
Why is a bunch of Landscapers involved with Help for Heroes?
Help for Heroes is particularly close to our hearts because we have two members of our company who are ex-regular army, currently in the TA (Territorial Army), with a combined length of service approaching 55 years. Both of them have spent literally years on operations and have seen action on a number of fronts. Both have both lost good friends and colleagues as a result of combat, and both have sustained injuries in training and on operations; in one case Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which is classified as a mental wound or injury.
Both men know the importance of being looked after and rehabilitated effectively and with dignity after injury; luckily in both their cases their injuries have not prevented them continuing to serve. Literally hundreds of service personnel have been and still are being injured, physically and mentally whilst on operations particularly at the moment in Iraq and Afghanistan. This fact often goes unnoticed by members of the public who are often unaware of the longer term implications of many severely wounded and what it will take to rehabilitate and support them for the rest of their lives.
Down To Earth Partners Ltd (DTEP Ltd) believes that we have a duty to support Help for Heroes in any way we can. We have, after all, first hand knowledge of the effects of war. Both men who have survived their operational experience relatively unscathed are incredibly lucky to have done so, but there are many brave and dedicated soldiers, sailors and airmen who have serious life changing injuries.
DTEP will be donating a percentage of it’s revenue to Help for Heroes. It will also be looking at ways of using its skills and experience to improve the lives of our wounded and injured service personnel.
